Vape usage growing rapidly nearly 20% in Russia by 2024

The regions Chechnya, North Ossetia, Ingushetia and Kalmyk have lowest vape usage rates. In addition, the usage rate of Karachay-Cherks vapes was 0.9%, that of Dagestan was 2.2%, that of Khakas was 3.6%, that of Kabardino-Balkar was 4.7%, that of Buryatia was 5%, and that of Kurgan Oblast was 5.5%.
FinExpertiza president Yelena Trubnikova pointed out that vapes and heated tobacco devices are rising steadily among residents. In the past two years, residents who use vapes have increased nearly a quarter, approximately one million while the number of tobacco smokers have decreased by 2%, by approximately 500,000 people. In 2024, because of increasing vape device users, the total number of all types of smokers will soar. The report emphasizes that the percentage of total nicotine users rose from 21.1% to 22.2% in 2024.
